Kings Drop 8-2 Decision In Neepawa

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings had a great first period but couldn't get anything over the goal line in an 8-2 loss to the Neepawa Natives Saturday night.

The opening 20 minutes was the Kings' best Saturday, but the team was the victim of bad luck. A chance on the goal line, a couple posts and after Neepawa had grabbed a 1-0 advantage Dauphin had a goal waved off after a quick whistle on a loose puck.

The bad luck transferred over into the middle frame where the Natives eventually pulled away from the Kings. Making the contest 5-1 after 40 minutes. Wilson Northey was finally able to pot one home for Dauphin in the second but it was too little too late.

The third period saw the game slip away from the Kings. Brendan Arnold would have Dauphin's lone tally in the final 20 minutes to make it an 8-2 game.

Special Teams were key early on. The Kings were unable to score on their man advantage opportunities in the first period while Neepawa notched goals on their first two chances. One in the first period and one in the second.

Brennan Kitchen started the game in net but did not have much support, allowing six goals against on 34 shots. The Kings had 38 shots total on the night.

The loss sends Dauphin to a record of 4-18-2 on the season. They'll get a handful of days off before their next game which comes Wednesday in Waywayseecappo against the Wolverines. Puck drop is 7:30pm!
