Kings Drop 4-0 Loss To Flyers

DAUPHIN, MB - A penalty filled affair Sunday afternoon at Credit Union Place saw the Dauphin Kings come up short in a 4-0 loss to the Winkler Flyers.

The game's first penalty call didn't come until halfway into the first period, but it was a sign of things to come as Dauphin picked up an uncharacteristic 48 minutes in infractions Sunday, most coming in the third period. It's the most penalty minutes in a game for the Kings who, coming into the night, were atop the league with the least amount of penalty minutes so far this season. The Flyers, meanwhile, continue to lead the league.

The opening 20 minutes had Winkler scoring on their second man advantage of the afternoon. They wouldn't tally on the Power Play after that, but would gain seven total chances before the contest concluded.

In the second period the Flyers would make it 3-0 with two goals about two minutes apart. They'd wrap up their scoring with just over five minutes to play in the third to make it a 4-0 final.

Kings goalie Bryson Yaschyshyn started the game but did not finish. He stopped 14 of 17 shots while Justin Perreault turned away 7 of 8 in relief. The Kings out shot Winkler 29-25.

Power Plays finished with the Kings going 0 for 4 while the Flyers were 1 for 7. At one point Winkler was 1 for 6 on the Power Play before the Kings received their second chance of the game.

The Kings move to 16-7-1-0 on the season. They'll get a couple days off before continuing their home stand on Wednesday with a big West Division matchup against the Virden Oil Capitals. Game time is 7:00pm!
