Kings Doubled By Selkirk

DAUPHIN, MB – The Dauphin Kings fell behind early and could never recover in an 8-4 loss to the Selkirk Steelers Sunday night at Credit Union Place.

Selkirk opened the contest with two goals in the first period. In the second the Steelers added another before the Kings got on the board. Dauphin stayed within two goals until Jake Dudar pulled Selkirk away for good. Dudar had four goals in the affair and five points total.

Goal scorers for the Kings Sunday were Graeme Hore with two, Daniel Chartrand and Kyle Oleksiuk notched his first MJHL goal in the third period. Unfortunately for Dauphin it was too little too late.

Brandon Holtby started the game but didn’t not finish. He was relieved by Tanner Douglas in the second period after allowing four goals on 18 shots. Douglas gave up four goals on 13 shots. The Kings out shot Selkirk 33-31.

When it came to Special Teams the Steelers had the advantage, gaining eight power plays and scoring on three of them. The Kings ended the evening 1 for 5.

The loss drops Dauphin to 1-3-0 on the MJHL season. They’ll continue their four game home stand on Wednesday when they welcome the Neepawa Natives to town. Game time is 7:30pm. After Wednesday the Kings finish the stand against the Winkler Flyers on Friday, the first CIBC Skate With The Kings of the season will happen that night after the game!
