Kings Double Wolverines 4-2 On Awards Night

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings gave their hometown fans something to talk about in their final regular season home game Tuesday night, beating the Wayway Wolverines 4-2 at Credit Union Place.

The game featured goals, fights and all sorts of treats.

In the opening period the Kings fell behind for the only time of the night when the Wolverines scored about 10 minutes in. Dauphin would respond before the opening 20 was out however when Matt Bartel notched his 7th of the season. Dauphin out shot Wayway 13-4 in the first period.

The second was all Dauphin despite a lengthy 5-on-3 man advantage for the Wolverines. First Wilson Northey tallied his 11th of the campaign and then Kyle Oleksiuk got in on the action with his 17th to make it 3-1 Dauphin after 40. The Kings put 15 shots on net in the middle frame while the Wolverines put up just 12 despite a number of Power Play chances.

In the third the Kings added another when Northey grabbed his second of the night and 12th of the season. The Wolverines would tally late but it wasn't enough as Dauphin skated to the 4-2 victory.

Brennan Kitchen grabbed the win in goal, stopping 24 of 26 shots while his team put 38 on the Wolverine net.

The Kings scored one goal on the Power Play Tuesday while the Wolverines were unsuccessful.

Now Dauphin hits the road for their final two games of the season. They'll head north to Swan River on Friday and then south to Virden on Saturday. Both games go at 7:30pm!
