Kings Double Up Steelers 4-2
DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings finished their weekend with two wins after a 4-2 decision over the Selkirk Steelers Saturday night.
The Kings took advantage of a Selkirk team that dressed just 15 skaters for the affair.
In the opening 20 minutes the Steelers would score just over three minutes in to go up. Dauphin would carry on and get some chances and had what looked to be a goal waved off. So after the first period they'd remain down by a goal.
The second period would see Brody Wytinck score his first MJHL goal and tie things up for the Kings 8:18 in. Then over three minutes later Daniel Helary (9) scored Dauphin's first shorthanded goal of the season. It was a great individual effort to give the Kings a 2-1 lead after 40. The goal extended Helary's goal scoring streak to three games.
In the third the Kings pulled away. First Kale Pratte scored his sixth of the year after Cam Jansa finished his man on the forecheck. Then Gavin Haslam got his third off the rush on a nice little setup from Ethan Stewart. Selkirk would score late to make it 4-2 but that'd be as close as they'd get.
Power Plays finished with the Steelers going 1 for 4 while Dauphin had one full two minute man advantage and a very brief one at the start of the game, going 0 for 2.
The Kings led in shots 44-35 and Bryson Yaschyshyn picked up his second straight win of the weekend.
The Kings' record is now 12-6-1-0 on the season. They'll conclude this three game road swing on Wednesday when they visit the Swan Valley Stampeders (7:00pm). After that the Kings will play nine of their next 11 games at Credit Union Place before heading into the Christmas Break.
