DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings final regular season home game was a successful one as the club defeated the Neepawa Natives 4-2 at Credit Union Place on Thursday.
Dauphin didn't have a great start, as they fell behind 2-1 in the opening 20 minutes. Mitchell (Boss) Joss mixed in his fourth of the season to get the Kings on the board, but after that Neepawa tallied twice.
In the middle frame Dauphin bounced back, scoring three unanswered to go up 4-2 after 40. Joss (5), Riley Shamray (12) and Bryon Fobair (16) all treated the fans in the second with the third period not having any scoring.
Ethan Slobodzian played strong, turning aside 34 of the 36 shots he faced while his team pushed 35 on the Neepawa net.
Neepawa tallied once on the power play while the Kings failed on just one opportunity.
The victory puts the Kings at 29-24-6 on the season and they clinch the 7th spot. With one game remaining the Kings cannot catch Winnipeg for 6th, so their first round opponent is confirmed as they will take on the Swan Valley Stampeders in the best of seven set.
Dauphin will close out their season on Saturday with a visit to the Virden Oil Capitals. Game time is 7:30pm!
