WINNIPEG, MB - The Dauphin Kings surrendered a 2-0 lead early on but battled back with four unanswered goals to beat the Winnipeg Blues 4-2 Sunday night.
Winnipeg notched the only goal in the opening 20 minutes and then scored 49 seconds into the second to go up 2-0 on Dauphin.
After the second goal the Kings responded very well. First Alex Schneider tallied his first of the campaign with Avery Smith and Wayde Johannesson drawing assists. Less than a minute after that Sammy Mouland got his first of the year with D-men Keagan Morrison and Marc-Antoine Couture getting in on the action,
The two teams went into the third period where Dauphin continued to control the play. Eventually they were rewarded when Ian Tookenay picked up his first of the year from Bronson Kelly. Brendan Arnold would add an empty netter from Riley Buller to ice the game for the Kings.
Dauphin ended up out shooting Winnipeg 44-26. Brennan Kitchen return to the net Sunday and picked up the win for the Kings.
Despite the win Dauphin did not have a single power play opportunity while the Blues were successful once on five tries.
The win salvages two points for the Kings on a three game in three night road swing and improves their record to 3-2-0 on the year.
Next up for Dauphin is a trip north to Swan River to battle the Swan Valley Stampeders on Wednesday. Game time is 7:30pm!
