THE PAS, MB - The Dauphin Kings continued their strong play as of late and it finally paid off in a 4-2 victory over the OCN Blizzard Saturday night.
It was an affair that saw the Kings jump out to a 2-0 lead in the first half of the game. Nakodan Greyeyes got both of Dauphin's goals early on. His fifth and sixth of the season.
OCN would respond however. After making the game 2-1 in the second period the Blizzard gained momentum and ended up tying the contest with five minutes to go in the second. Grady Hobbs (8) would respond for the Kings, notching a great goal on an end-to-end give and go with Bryon Fobair. The marker put Dauphin up 3-2 and they didn't look back.
In the final period the Kings controlled the game for the most part. Cole DeKoninck gave Dauphin some insurance when he flicked home his third of the campaign on what was a very nice shift by the 2000 born D-man.
The Kings didn't score any goals on the man advantage Saturday, the Blizzard tallied once.
Bryan Landsberger was solid between the pipes. He made the saves that he had to at important times in the game. He turned aside 33 of 35 shots while his club fired 43 on the OCN net.
The victory improves the Kings' record to 15-12-3 on the season, moving them into a tie for fourth in the standings with the idle Selkirk Steelers.
Next up for Dauphin is another road game on Tuesday. They'll visit the Blues in Winnipeg at the Bell MTS Iceplex. Game time is 7:00pm.
