The Dauphin Kings have dealt 19 year old forward Rylan Freed for 20 year old forward Rory Davidson from the Drumheller Dragons of the AJHL and future considerations.

Davidson who is comes from Delburne, AB spent the past two seasons with the Dragons. In 102 regular season games with the Dragons, Davidson picked up 36 points including 23 goals. The 5.09, 160 lb, right hander has elite speed and agility and will add some veteran presence in the top 6 forward group. Along with his blazing speed, Davidson will provide the Kings with outstanding leadership as he was an Assistant Captain with the Dragons and Captain of the Red Deer AAA Midget championship team.

Davidson is a former teammate of former Dauphin King and Niagra University commit, Tanner Lomsnes as well as newly acquired King, Lindsey MacLellan. Lomsnes and Davidson were a part of the Telus Cup Champion Red Deer Chiefs AAA midget team during the 2011-2012 season.

Going the other way is 19 year old froward Rylan Freed. As a rookie last season, Freed had 30 points in 58 games for the Kings.

“At closing out meetings last season, Rylan expressed an interest in a move, as he didn’t see Dauphin as the right fit in his Junior A career.” stated Kings Head Coach/GM Marlin Murray. “Picking up conversations this summer, he told us he would only play in the AJHL. This obviously limited our options, however by getting a player like Rory Davidson as well as futures, we are ecstatic with the return we got.”

The Kings would like to wish Rylan Freed the best of luck in the AJHL and would like to welcome Rory Davidson and his family to the organization.

The Kings have been busy in the month of June. They have added 20 year old forward Tyler Garrioch, 19 year old forward Lindsey MacLellan, 19 year old defenceman Sam Schultz, and 20 year old forward Rory Davidson via trade.
