DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings battled back from a 3-2 deficit late in the third period Friday night at Credit Union Place, beating the Winnipeg Blues 4-3 in overtime.
The Blues were the first to hit the score sheet. Just under six minutes in they opened the scoring. They'd take that advantage to the middle frame.
In the second period Grady Hobbs (42 & 43) came alive and gave his team two goals and a 2-1 lead by the midway point of the frame before Winnipeg tallied two of their own to go ahead 3-2 after 40.
In the third period the Kings were dominant. They out shot the Blues 21-2 and eventually were rewarded for it when Nakodan Greyeyes notched his 24th of the season to get the game to overtime.
In the extra frame the Kings continued their dominance and Brayden Pawluk used his hero card to lift the Kings to the 4-3 victory and two points.
Levi Mitchell was solid between the pipes for Dauphin. He stopped 23 of 26 shots while his team lit Winnipeg up for 54 shots.
The Kings were 1 for 3 on the power play while the Blues finished 1 for 2.
Dauphin's record moves to 31-23-3-2 on the season. They'll conclude the campaign on Sunday when they visit the Virden Oil Capitals. The Kings could still finish anywhere from 5th to 7th by the time the dust settles Sunday night. Game time Sunday is 7:00pm!
