DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings had a good push in the third period but it wasn't enough in a 3-2 loss to the Swan Valley Stampeders Tuesday night.
Dauphin once again posted a young lineup, but not as young as Monday's tilt at Credit Union Place. On this night the club would struggle with puck movement at both ends of the ice.
In the opening period the Stampeders started the scoring but Avery Smith would respond after getting a nice pass from Jaxon Heeney in the neutral zone. Smith would walk in and snap it home.
Swan Valley was the only team to score in a pretty uneventful middle frame.
In the third the Stampeders would pad their lead to 3-1. Dauphin would have a great push late in the contest and Mitchell Joss would score on a scramble in front. That goal came with just 11 seconds remaining.
Ethan Slobodzian and Matthias Smith shared the loss in goal Tuesday. Smith allowed two goals while Slobodzian gave up one.
Power plays saw both teams failing to score. Dauphin went 0 for 8 while Swan Valley finished 0 for 5.
The Kings slip to 1-1-0 in the pre season and will continue their exhibition campaign Thursday at Credit Union Place against the SJHL's Melville Millionaires. Fans can expect a much deeper and experienced lineup in that contest. Game time is 7:30pm.
