Kings Comeback Falls Short

SWAN RIVER, MB - Defensive breakdowns were the flavour of the night for the Dauphin Kings Tuesday in a 5-4 loss to the Swan Valley Stampeders.

The Kings dug themselves into a hole, falling behind 5-0 after 40 minutes of play. Most of the goals were due to bad pinches or giveaways by the club's young defence pairings on the night.

Give Dauphin credit though, as they did not quit after two periods.

The club came out in the third period and could have easily scored eight goals. In the end they fell just short of sending the affair to overtime. Leeam Tivers (2), Alex Cattani & Taron Topham all had goals for Dauphin in the final frame.

The Kings out shot the Stampeders 47-36. Bryan Landsberger and Jackson Hjelle suffered the loss between the pipes for the Kings. Landsberger made 19 saves on 22 shots while Hjelle stopped 12 of 14.

Now Dauphin gets a much needed break from game action. They won't play again until Saturday when they entertain the Virden Oil Capitals at Credit Union Place. The contest will much likely see Dauphin with a much more veteran lineup on the ice. Game time Saturday is 7:30pm!
