Kings Come Up Short To Blizzard

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings played one of their better games as of late but couldn't bury their chances in a 4-1 loss to the OCN Blizzard Thursday night at Credit Union Place.

The Kings and Blizzard played a pretty even opening 20 minutes, with Dauphin out shooting OCN 13-10.

The middle frame had the Blizzard jump out to a 1-0 advantage 4:30 into the period, but the Kings responded when Riley Shamray connected on a point shot for his third goal in as many games on the man advantage to tie things up. Wilson Northey had the first assist with McCullough Park gaining the second assist. OCN would score about four minutes later to regain the lead at 2-1 through 40 minutes.

In the final period the Blizzard added two goals to take the game 4-1 despite being out shot 15-7 by the Kings.

Overall the shot total saw Dauphin putting 35 on the OCN net while the Blizzard fired 34 on the Kings net. Matt Kustra played very good, but took the loss in goal.

The Kings' Power Play continues to hit the score sheet, for the third straight game Dauphin scored on the man advantage. They finished the night 1 for 5 while OCN was 0 for 2.

The loss slips the Kings to 4-15-2 on the season. They'll make a quick turnaround and get ready for a game with the Winnipeg Blues tomorrow night at Credit Union Place, Heroes Night. Opening face off is 7:30pm!
