Kings Come Up Short In Winnipeg

DAUPHIN, MB - You knew the Winnipeg Freeze were going to win a game eventually, unfortunately for the Dauphin Kings they were the ones that had to soak the loss, falling 3-1 on Saturday night.

The first saw the Kings control most of the play, but just around the eight minute mark it was the Freeze opening the scoring. It didn't take long for Dauphin to respond though, about 30 seconds later Cayden Glover notched his 11th of the season to knot things at one and send the two teams to the dressing rooms tied. Glover now has goals in six straight games.

The first half of the middle frame was quite stale. Dauphin had the best chances but neither team hit the score sheet. The second half of the period was more of the same for the most part until the final five minutes where the Freeze would grab the lead.

In the third period the Freeze killed off multiple Dauphin man advantages and added some insurance

The Kings also ran into a hot goaltender as Winnipeg's Braxton Burdeny turned aside 59 shots, some of which were very high quality. Late in the game he even tried to score a goalie goal on Dauphin's empty net. Victor Larin played well but suffered the loss. He stopped 21 of the 24 he faced.

Dauphin's Power Play was disappointing Saturday, going 0 for 6. Their Penalty Kill was 1 for 1.

Dauphin slips to 7-4-0-0 on the year. They'll now look south to Winkler where they'll play their final contest in this three game in three night swing. Opening face off, a late one for a Sunday, is 7:30pm.
