Kings Come Up Short In Waywayseecappo
DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings fell flat in an important West Division game Monday, losing 4-1 to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.
It was a pretty quiet opening to the game. There was just one shot in the first seven minutes. Eventually the Wolverines were awarded the game's first man advantage and the shots would start. Dauphin would kill it off, but Waywayseecappo would score shortly after to make it 1-0. They'd take that lead into the intermission.
The middle frame saw the Kings once again fail to come out strong. They were scored on in the first two minutes to go down 2-0. Then Wayway would add another before the end of the first half of the period to make a 3-0 advantage. The Kings had some chances in the second half of the period but remained down 3-0 after 40.
In the third Dauphin couldn't find the net early despite continuing to out shot Waywayseecappo. The Kings again would get some chances as the period wore on and Dylan Miko would score his first goal as a Dauphin King, making it 3-1 late. It wasn't enough however as the Wolverines would add an empty netter to finish it off at 4-1.
Special Teams were went scoreless. The Kings were 0 for 4 on the Power Play while Waywayseecappo went 0 for 5.
Shots finished 34-19 in favour of Dauphin. Hunter Bauer suffered the loss in goal for the Kings.
Dauphin gets Tuesday off before getting back into action on Wednesday when they host the Swan Valley Stampeders at Credit Union Place. Opening face off is 7:00pm!
The Kings are now 26-21-2-0 on the year.
