Kings Come From Behind In Third To Beat Pistons

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings battled back from a two goal deficit in the third period and picked up their fourth straight win, a 4-2 victory over the Steinbach Pistons Friday night at Credit Union Place.

Dauphin took some time in this game to find their game, but when they did it seemed like they couldn't miss.

In the opening period the game was scoreless but Steinbach controlled most of it, outshooting the Kings 17-6.

The second period was more of the same except this time the Pistons ended up scoring to take a 1-0 advantage. Steinbach again out shot the Kings, this time 15-8.

In the third the Pistons would add some insurance, scoring less than two minutes in. Gavin Haslam (5) would respond about two minutes later, making it 2-1 Steinbach. Then Dauphin would continue to play well and a great shift by Josh Schmidt (4) resulted in the game tying goal from the Ontario product. Then just a few minutes later Daniel Helary (10) swatted a shot from the point to give the Kings the lead with 6:36 to play. Havryil Simchuk (11) would add an empty to secure the win.

Dauphin out shot Steinbach 12-10 in the third.

Shots were 42-26 for Steinbach. Goaltender Bryson Yaschyshyn took the win in goal for the Kings. He played well in the first two periods when his team took time to find their game.

Power Plays finished with the Kings going 0 for 1 while Steinbach went scoreless on three opportunities.

With the win Dauphin goes to 14-6-1-0 on the season and are 1st in the MJHL's West Division. Next up is an affair in Winnipeg against the Blues on Sunday (7:30pm). It'll be the last road game for the Kings until December 16th as Dauphin opens up a seven game home stand next Saturday. They'll play seven of their next eight at Credit Union Place before the Christmas break kicks in on December 21st.
