Kings Clinch Playoff Spot, Rip Blizzard 10-3

DAUPHIN, MB - A six goal second period powered the Dauphin Kings to a 10-3 romp of the OCN Blizzard Tuesday night at Credit Union Place.

The Captain, Brendan Arnold (9), opened the scoring for the Kings Tuesday night. OCN would tally less than a minute later in the mid section of the first period but after that they went mostly silent. Dauphin later got goals from Bryson Cecconi (3) & Austin Lamotte (14).

In the second period the Kings came out on fire. First Grady Hobbs tallied his 34th of the campaign. Then Austin Lamotte (15) scored his second of the night. Then Dauphin got goals from Brayden Pawluk (6) and Noah Wagner (5) before the Blizzard stopped the bleeding, briefly. Nakodan Greyeyes (22) and Grady Hobbs (35) would both score before the period was out.

The third period was mostly quiet after the hectic second. Dauphin scored once more and it was Austin Lamotte (16) with the hat trick goal.

Dauphin's Special Teams went 1 for 6 on the power play and 4 for 5 on the penalty kill.

Levi Mitchell was solid between the pipes for the Kings. He stopped 29 of 32 shots while his team had an impressive 66 shots on the OCN net.

The victory puts the Kings at 27-23-3-2 on the season. They remain 7th in the standings but have clinched a playoff spot for the second straight season. Now the only question left to be answered is who they will play in the opening round of the post season. After tonight the Kings are now two points back of Waywayseecappo (6th) and three points behind Virden (5th).

The Kings see their next action on Friday when they host the Portage Terriers. Game time is 7:30pm and it's sponsored by Cary Fillion's Twin Motors!
