DAUPHIN, MB - Three goals in the second half of the opening period powered the Dauphin Kings to a 5-2 victory on TV Tuesday at Credit Union Place.
Dauphin got goals from Carter Sawchuk (12), Nakodan Greyeyes (15) & Grady Hobbs (15) in the opening 20 minutes. The Kings dominated the frame when it came to time of possession in the offensive zone and they out shot the Blizzard 14-6 in the process.
In the second period the Kings picked up where they left off. Grady Hobbs mixed in his 16th of the season on the man advantage and Dauphin would take a 4-0 lead to the final frame.
A few shenanigans in the third period resulted in OCN being treated to a couple power plays. The man advantages gave the club a legnthy 5-on-3 which they scored twice. The Kings wouldn't break though, and Austin Lamotte would tally his 5th of the campaign. The goal came late in the affair and on the power play.
Zach Grouette won his second straight game between the pipes. He pushed away 29 of 31 shots. His team fired 32 on the OCN net Tuesday.
Dauphin's man advantage continues to roll. The club was 2 for 3 on the power play and ended the night 3 for 5 on the penalty kill.
The win is the Kings' 4th straight and puts their record at 12-10-3-2 on the season and they're now tied with the Virden Oil Capitals for 7th in the MJHL Standings.
Next up for the Kings is a date with the Winkler Flyers on Friday at Credit Union Place. It's game two of a six game home stand for the club and it goes at 7:30pm!
