TONIGHT'S MATCHUP
KINGS (1-3-1-0)
The Dauphin Kings haven't had much of problem with their starts this season. So far in five games the Kings have scored first four times. The problem is after scoring those first goals Dauphin has given up one or more after. That includes four in Wednesday's loss to Waywayseecappo.
One of the bright spots for the Kings on Wednesday was Tate Barnaby who came in in the second period and stopped all 19 shots he faced. Dauphin just couldn't get anything going offensively and had dug themselves too big of a hole in the opening 20. So tonight the Kings will try to keep their pedal to the metal if they do in fact score the game's first goal again.
It's still pretty early in the season judge teams on their Special Teams, but the Kings currently have a power play at 12.5% and a penalty kill at 70.6%.
Collin Friedrich (5G, 1A) and Sam Swanton (6A) both remain the Kings' leaders in points with six.
BLUES (2-1-0-0)
They've only played three games but the Winnipeg Blues are off to a solid start on the young MJHL season. The Blues have wins over the Winnipeg Monarchs and the Selkirk Steelers. Both victories came in overtime and in both those games they were out shot by at least 10.
Tonight marks the start of four straight on the road for the Blues. They'll continue north after tonight to take on the Stampeders in Swan River tomorrow. Then they've got tilts in Niverville and Virden next week.
Through three contests Winnipeg has a power play at 16.7% and their penalty kill is at 58.3%.
Leading the way in scoring for Winnipeg is Tristen Bailey with four goals and four assists for eight points.
