Kings Beat Steinbach In OT

DAUPHIN, MB - Riley Shamray had an assist on the game tying goal late in the third period and he then won it in overtime as the Kings beat the Steinbach Pistons 2-1 at Credit Union Place Friday night.

It was a pretty good all round effort by the Kings as they out shot the Pistons 46-27 in the affair.

Neither team was able to hit the back of the net until the Pistons did so late in the second period to go ahead 1-0.

In the third Dauphin had good pressure and were eventually rewarded when Leeam Tivers tallied his 8th of the campaign on a turn and fire chance with less than two minutes to play in the final frame.

Steinbach's undisciplined play cost them late in the third period when Easton Bennett took a cross checking penalty.

Shamray would score on the man advantage to get the Kings two important points.

Ethan Slobodzian was excellent in goal and turned aside 26 of 27 shots. His team finished the night 1 for 6 on the man advantage and 3 for 3 on the penalty kill.

Dauphin and Steinbach will face off again Saturday night at Credit Union Place as the Kings close out their five game home stand.

The Kings improve to 26-23-6 on the season and remain 6th in the MJHL Standings.
