Kings Beat Neepawa, Hobbs Nets Another Hat Trick

NEEPAWA, MB - The Dauphin Kings battled back from a 1-0 deficit in the second period Saturday and picked up another big win, this time a 5-3 decision over the Neepawa Natives.

The opening period saw Neepawa gain the only goal, despite the Kings out shooting them 13-7.

Dauphin was at times dominant in the second period and Grady Hobbs (39) and Baron Thompson (25) led the way with a goal and an assist each. The Kings took that 2-1 lead to the final frame.

In the third the Kings stumbled a little but stuck with it., despite a number of Neepawa power plays. Cole DeKoninck (20) would give Dauphin a 3-2 lead after the Natives tied it then Grady Hobbs (40) gave the club insurance. He then tallied his second straight hat trick, scoring an empty netter making it 5-3 Kings.

Dauphin again won the Special Teams battle Saturday. They went 2 for 5 on the power play and 7 for 7 on the penalty kill.

Shots were 37-32 Dauphin. Levi Mitchell picked up the win between the pipes for the Kings.

A Wayway loss in Winkler and a Virden win over Winnipeg pulls the Kings within two points of both the Oil Capitals and Wolverines. The three teams each have three games left in their seasons. Dauphin kicks off their final week of the season Tuesday when they host the Natives at Credit Union Place. Game time is 7:30pm!

The Kings are now 29-23-3-2 on the season.
