TONIGHT'S MATCHUP
KINGS (23-17-1-0) - 2nd in West
The Kings are coming off that key 3-1 victory over the Neepawa Titans Saturday night which has given them a two point lead for second place, but if Dauphin wants to finish first in the West Division they'll need all the points they can get. Both Neepawa and Virden are not in action tonight.
Dauphin has played well against Niverville this season but their record going into the final meeting of the regular season is 1-2-0-0 against the Nighthawks. The last time they met was a week ago for Ukrainian Night, a contest that saw the Kings play well, but unable to squeeze out any points.
Dauphin's Power Play failed on one chance last night against Neepawa. It's now ranked 9th in the MJHL at 21.8% while their Penalty Kill is 8th at 78.9%. It went 2 for 2 against Neepawa.
Nicholas Zaharias is alone atop the Kings scoring with 10 goals and 26 assists for 36 points.
NIGHTHAWKS (37-2-1-0) - 1st In East
The Niverville Nighthawks continue to roll. Coming into this evening they lead the league and are riding a 13 game winning streak. They have not lost since December 10th when they fell 3-2 to the Portage Terriers. They did not play last night, their last game was Friday, a 5-1 win over the Blues in Winnipeg.
As mentioned earlier the Nighthawks have already clinched a playoff spot and once they clinch top spot in the East Division it's going to be difficult for them to find any meaning behind their remaining games down the stretch.
Special Teams both remain in the top five in the MJHL for Niverville. Their Power Play is 3rd at 24.4% while their Penalty Kill is 2nd at 86.1%.
Hayden Wheddon (21G, 44A) leads the MJHL in points with 65.
