DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings are off to the second round after a 3-2 game five victory over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines Saturday night at Credit Union Place.
Dauphin opened the scoring for the second straight game but the Wolverines were quick to respond to keep things close after 20. Gabriel Bugeaud scored the Kings opener, his first of the post season. A Power Play marker.
In the second period the Kings took the lead when Havryil Simchuk (2) continued his strong play as of late, giving a 2-1 advantage going to the third.
In the final frame Gabriel Bugeaud gave the Kings insurance with his second of the night. Wayway pushed hard and made it close, but the Kings held on in the third period.
Cole Sheffield was strong in the win, stopping 28 shots while his team had 37.
Power Plays saw the Kings finish 1 for 3, Waywayseecappo was 1 for 5.
