DAUPHIN, MB – The Dauphin Kings added experience and leadership to their roster with the addition of Wilson Northey on Tuesday.

The 20 year old forward from North Vancouver joins the Kings after spending last season with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Lloydminster Bobcats. Before that, Northey played with the Kamloops Storm in BC’s KIJHL.

“It wasn’t too long into our first conversation that we realized the type of person we’d be adding to our hockey club. Wilson has an exceptional work ethic, he’s a details type of guy and has great speed. We’re looking to add him to help stabilize our leadership group and to push our message of playing the game the right way” says Kings Head Coach and General Manager Marc Berry.

Northey hasn’t stepped on the ice in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League just yet, but he knows the province very well. “I’m really excited about going to Manitoba and Dauphin specifically. I haven’t visited in a long time but my Grand Dad actually lived there and was in the Air Force and taught a lot of fighter pilots and air cadets in Portage. We flew over Dauphin quite a bit and I know that you guys have a lot of great parks there and I hear it’s a beautiful spot to play. I’m just looking forward to getting going, helping mentor the younger guys and be a leader in the room” says Northey.

Northey talks a bit about what kind of player he is: ”I like to use my speed, I’m a well thinking two way centre and I’m rarely out of position defensively. I’m also the type of player that can make good breakout passes and chip in a little offensively.”

The Kings would like to welcome Wilson and his family to the City of Dauphin.

Kings Fall Camp begins on Thursday August 31st at Credit Union Place!
