Kavanaugh a King

The Dauphin Kings swung a deal with the Drumheller Dragons of the AJHL on Thursday.

The latest to join the club is 97 born defenceman, Trevor Kavanaugh from Eagle Lake, ON in exchange for future considerations.

Kavanaugh played last season with the Kenora Thistles in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League where he was a First Team All-Star. In 43 games with the Thistles, Kavanaugh had 40 points including 16 goals helping the Thistles reach the Telus Cup Regional Tournament in Dauphin.

Kavanaugh also appeared in 3 games in the Dudley Hewitt Cup tournament with the Dryden Ice Dogs of the SIJHL at the end of last season.

“Coming to this new team I feel like it’s going to be a fresh start and will be able to do great things with the team.” Stated Kavanaugh.  “I’m looking forward to making a pretty good bond with my teammates and the city of Dauphin”

“We really liked him all last year especially at the Telus Cup.” says Kings Head Coach/GM Marlin Murray “He has elite puck skills for a 1997 player.  He can moves very well from the backend and is gifted with offensive instincts.  He’s got a bomb of a shot and we need to implement that on our Power Play.  We are glad we could add another 1997 skilled player to our line up”

Kavanaugh is expected to join the Kings this weekend.

The Dauphin Kings would like to welcome Trevor and his family to the City of Sunshine!
