The Dauphin Kings have forced a winner take all game seven in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s championship series.

Dauphin’s Garrett Hrechka scored his biggest goal as a King in the second period and it stood up as the winner as the Kings skated past the Pistons, 2-0, in front of a great crowd on Sunday night at Credit Union Place.

Colby Jaquet fired a shot from the right point and Hrechka got a stick on it from the right side of the blue paint and it snuck past Will Hambley as Hrechka gave Dauphin a 1-0 lead. The Kings peppered Hambley all game long but he was incredible as he made 45 saves.

However, Carson Cherepak also came up large as he made some tremendous saves and ended up the night with a 24 save shutout performance as the Kings staved off elimination to force Wednesday’s winner-take-all game seven.

Late in the game with less than three minutes left, Brayden Dube made a marvellous move at the left corner, spun towards the back of the net and made a perfect pass to Logan Calder who put the back on the back of the net to give the Kings some breathing room.

Game seven will go on Wednesday at 7:30. You can listen to the game with Darnell Duff starting with the Parkland Source for Sports pregame show at 7:00 p.m.
