Haun The Hero, Kings Beat Portage In OT

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings are one win away from advancing to the MJHL Final.

Matthew Haun (1) played his hero card, scoring the game winner early in the second overtime as the Kings beat the Terriers 4-3 Friday night at Credit Union Place.

The Kings played well in the opening 20 minutes, taking a 2-0 lead to the dressing room. Dauphin got goals from Matthew Thomas (4) and Rylan Gage (2) both tallied in the period.

In the second it was all Portage. The Terriers had two goals to even up the score going to the third.

In the final frame Matthew Thomas (5) scored his second of the night but Portage would get back on even terms.

In the first overtime the Terriers controlled things, outshooting the Kings 8-3, but the ice would be flooded for another frame.

After Portage's Nolan Nenow ran over Cole Sheffield the Kings gained a man advantage and Haun would score to give Dauphin a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Sheffield was very good in the win for the Kings. He stopped 38 of the 41 shots he faced. Portage's two goalies both saw action. In total they faced 38 Dauphin shots.

Power Plays were even at three. Dauphin finished 2 for 3 while Portage was 1 for 3.

There's not any time for rest. Both teams will face off again tomorrow night in Portage for game five of this series. Opening face off is slated for 7:30pm!
