Goalies steal the show again

A Dauphin Kings goaltender is once again the first star of the week in a new edition of the Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week.

1st Star – Marko Belak

The former high school standout from south of the border was outstanding on Friday night in the team’s 4-0 win.

Posting a 28-save shutout, Belak made several highlight reel saves and gave Dauphin a chance to find their offence, which they did.

In 17 games this year, Belak is 10-5 with a 3.10 goals-against average to go along with a .906 save percentage. The shutout was the first of his junior career.

2nd Star – Dmytro Kubrytskyi

For the second straight night, the team’s goaltending was very solid. In his return between the pipes, Dmytro certainly gave Dauphin a chance to win the game as he turned away 32 shots.

You also can’t fault Dmytro for either of the goals that went past him as he put together his second quality performance with his new team.

Kubrytskyi has made 85 saves in three games with Dauphin and he has a .914 save percentage.

3rd Star – Aaron Neal

Neal put together two solid defensive efforts over the weekend as the team split a pair of games and he also had a couple of good scoring chances.

Hard on pucks and starting to create more offensive chances, Neal is trending in the right direction and he will only continue to get better.

In 20 games with Dauphin this year, Aaron has posted one goal and seven assists.
