DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings couldn't seem to get rolling all night and it cost them in a 2-0 shut out loss to the Winkler Flyers Tuesday night at Credit Union Place.
The very defensive contest saw the teams go scoreless in the first period. Winkler would open the scoring in the middle frame and then add insurance in the third to take the affair.
The Kings had man advantage opportunities throughout the night, but couldn't find any traction in their game. They went 0 for 4 on the Power Play, but 1 for 1 on the Penalty Kill.
Cole Sheffield gave up two goals in the loss but was not the reason the Kings fell Tuesday night. Dauphin out shot Winkler 30-20 but the Flyers' had much better scoring chances.
The loss drops the Kings to 4-1-0-0 on the season. They'll look to rebound Friday night when they entertain the Portage Terriers at Credit Union Place. Game time is 7:30pm and it's sponsored by Dean Cooley GM!
