DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings played a solid 60 minutes but could only muster one point Friday night in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Winkler Flyers!
The contest saw Dauphin out play Winkler for most of the night. Especially in the final frame.
The two regulation goals came in the second and third periods. Winkler opened the scoring in the middle frame and took that lead into the third.
With 6.8 seconds left in the game, after Dauphin controlled things for the final 20 minutes, Riley Shamray saw his floater wrist shot find its way home to tie things up and get the tilt to the fourth period.
In overtime both teams traded chances but it was the Flyers who came away with the bonus point. They scored with 25 seconds to go in OT.
Dauphin ended the night out shooting the Flyers 34-28 in the tilt. Bryan Landsberger made his home debut for the Kings and was very good between the pipes for his club. Both goals against the 18 year old were ones he couldn't be faulted on.
Both teams could not score on the man advantage Friday.
The loss is Dauphin's first in extra time, putting their record to 9-7-1 on the season. They'll look to rebound on Saturday when they welcome the Swan Valley Stampeders to Credit Union Place. Game time is 7:30pm and the sponsor is Twin Motors Dauphin!
