DAUPHIN, MB – The Dauphin Kings had a 2-1 lead going into the final period but couldn’t hold on in a 4-2 loss to the Winkler Flyers Friday night at Credit Union Place.
The two clubs skated to a scoreless opening period. In the second Matty Greening tallied his eighth of the campaign which was the Teddy Bear Toss goal (Below)! Winkler would respond later on to tie things up but Ashton Clark (12) capitalized on a good bounce to get the Kings back up by one heading into the final period.
In the third the Flyers scored two unanswered to take the lead and then added an empty netter to seal the deal.
Brandon Holtby (5-10) was excellent for the Kings Friday. He stopped 38 of the 41 shots he faced while the Kings put 15 on the Winkler net according to the game sheet.
Dauphin’s Penalty Kill continues to be a bright spot for the club as of late. It once again didn’t allow a goal against, going 1 for 1 while the Kings Power Play finished 0 for 1.
The Kings continue their six game home stand on Saturday night when they welcome the Winnipeg Blues to Credit Union Place. Game time is 7:30pm!
