Flyers Clip Kings

WINKLER, MB – A bad start Friday night in Winkler ended up costing the Kings a shot at at least a point in a 3-1 loss to the Flyers.

Winkler scored three goals in the opening 12 minutes en route to the victory. After the first three went in the Kings settled down and played well, unfortunately Dauphin was in too big of a hole to crawl out of the deficit.

The lone goal for the Kings Friday night came off the stick of Darren Gisti, who notched his second of the campaign. Riese Gaber and Brendan Arnold had the assists.

Brandon Holtby suffered the loss between the pipes. He stopped 29 of 32 shots while his counterpart Josh Williams had 24 saves on the evening.

Special Teams were in favour of the Flyers who had five man advantage opportunities to Dauphin’s four. A couple of the Kings chances were shortened.

The loss moves the Kings to 2-10-2 on the MJHL season. They’ll look to regroup and move forward Saturday night when they skate with the Steelers in Selkirk. Opening face off is 7:30pm!
