Comeback completed, huge win

Jakob Brook has found his stride and he heated up at the perfect time.

Wrapping up the weekend on home ice against Swan Valley, Brook scored the overtime winner on Sunday in a thrilling 5-4 come-from-behind win for the Kings.

Dauphin trailed 4-2 after 40 minutes before scoring two goals to force overtime.

The Kings jumped out to a great start as Jakob scored his first as a King just 66 seconds into the game. But, the Stampeders then scored a trio of goals in less than four minutes as they opened up a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Aidan Brook scored on a beautiful shot early in the second as Dauphin trailed just 3-2. Swan Valley would restore their two-goal lead as Swan River’s, Steven Arp scored with two minutes left in the second.

The come back kids from Dauphin came up clutch in the third as Jamie Valentino scored a power play goal to trim Dauphin’s deficit to one goal and then Carter Zalischuk would tie the game for Dauphin. 47 seconds into overtime on the power play, Jakob tipped in a shot past the Stampeders netminder as the Kings completed the comeback.

With their win, Dauphin now moves to 17-12-2. That has them just three points behind OCN and Swan Valley for first place in the MGEU West Division. Dauphin also has three games in hand on OCN and one on Swan Valley.

The Kings and Stampeders will lock horns again on Friday night at Credit Union Place at 7:30.
