Coleman lights it up, joined by Dube and Morris

It was an important weekend for the Dauphin Kings and Cordell Coleman put his work boots on and had his best weekend as a King to date offensively.

Opening their weekend in Waywayseecappo on Friday night, Cordell recorded his first career junior hat-trick in a 5-2 win against the Wolverines.  Then on Louis Riel Day, Coleman had a gorgeous assist when he fed Logan Calder who scored his second goal as a King.

Coleman was also named the team’s RBC Ambassador prior to Friday night’s game and he is also this week’s First Star in the Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week. A determined 20-year-old, Coleman has stepped it up as of late and he continues to be a fan favourite and a favourite in the dressing room as well.

Second Star:

He’s only 16-years-old but he’s playing like a veteran and only two rookies have more points than him. Brayden Dube continues to produce offensively in a big way for the Kings and that was the case over the weekend.

On Friday night, Dube potted two goals and on Monday, Dube sniped home his 19th of the season and the Roblin native now has 37 points. He’s this week’s Second Star in the Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week.

Averaging nearly a point per game (0.95) Brayden’s wicked release makes him a threat every single time he touches the puck in the offensive zone.

Third Star:

There’s a new 59 in town and just like Grady Hobbs did, Luke Morris continued with his great season over the weekend. He jumped all over a rebound on Saturday and found the back of the net with just 26.5 seconds left as Dauphin came away with two points and a clean weekend sweep.

Morris is putting together a tremendous rookie season, having scored 19 times already and he’s chipped in with 13 assists. In his rookie season with the Kings, Hobbs scored seven times and added 12 assists. Now, he’s off playing Division 1 hockey with Rochester Institute of Technology.

A tireless worker, Morris shows up when the lights are at their brightest and his great attitude coupled with a bright personality has made him a fan favourite.

What’s next?

Another big weekend is coming up for the club, they’ll play a home-and-home with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.
