Cherepak earns top star, Bryant and Morris join

Heading into week two of the MJHL season, the Dauphin Kings are 1-1 after an opening weekend split with the Neepawa Titans.

On Monday, the team was back on the ice preparing for Friday’s game at Credit Union Place.

While an exciting weekend is coming up with another home-and-home against Neepawa, we’ll take a look at the Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week!

First Star – Carson Cherepak

In his first game as a Dauphin King on Saturday night, the former Sherwood Park Crusader put on a show. He made 45 saves to shutout Neepawa as Dauphin picked up their first win of the season.

Cherepak is a two-time Goaltender of the Year in the Manitoba AAA U18 Hockey League.

Second Star – Luke Morris

Dauphin has scored two goals this season, Morris has scored both of them. Saturday’s marker was the game-winner in a 1-0 win.

Morris has looked solid this season and has capitalized on his opportunies.

Third Star – Kaden Bryant

A returning 20-year-old, Bryant is expected to be one of the team’s top scorers this season. Although he failed to hit the scoresheet on opening weekend, the Winnipeg native had many chances.

Just like Cherepak who played his AAA hockey with the Winnipeg Wild, Bryant also played with the Wild and was named the league’s forward of the year in the 2018-19 season when he scored 45 times and had 89 points.

Being named a first star is worth five points, second star is three points, and third star is one point.

2021-22 Stars of the Week total thru week one:

1st – Carson Cherepak – 5 points

2nd – Luke Morris – 3 points

3rd – Kaden Bryant – 1 point
