Cherepak cracks top three again, Shantz and Brouwer join

Jeriah Shantz is the ‘Teddy Bear Man’. He opened the scoring less than three minutes into Saturday’s game and he went on to add another goal in the second period in Dauphin’s decisive 6-0 win.

And his two-goal performance has earned him First Star honours in this week’s Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week. Jeriah scored his first regular season goal with the team against Virden earlier this campaign and he now has three goals this season to go along with six assists.

Second Star:

A human version of a brick wall. That’s how you could classify Carson Cherepak this past weekend. The former Goaltender of the Year in the Manitoba AAA U18 Hockey League was nothing short of excellent for the Kings in their two wins.

He stopped all 31 shots he faced combined on Friday and Saturday to earn back-to-back shutouts. Carson now has a league leading four shutouts to his name and he’s 18-4 on the season. Cherepak’s 1.99 goals-against average is also the best in the league and he’s also been named an MJHL Star of the Week.

His .927 save percentage is also the second-best in the league

Third Star:

Tanner Brouwer’s first goal as a King came against the Swan Valley Stampeders and while he didn’t score this past weekend, he did play one of his best games of the season on Saturday night.

The Pine City, Minnesota native racked up three assists on Saturday as Dauphin earned their 22nd win of the season. A physical force, Brouwer continues to improve his game every time he hits the ice and if he continues trending the way he is right now, big things should follow.

Brouwer has eight assists to his name this season and nine points. He’s also only spent six minutes in the penalty box.
