Noah Smigelsky treated fans by scoring his first goal as a Dauphin King.
He also had an assist. Quinten Fisk of Dauphin scored the winner late in the third period, and it was a perfect cap to the 2025-26 regular season for the Kings.
A 4-3 victory on Saturday gave the Kings their 33rd win of the season. They finished in second place in the MGEU West Division heading into the Turnbull Cup playoffs. The Kings will play the Waywayseecappo Wolverines starting on Friday at Credit Union Place. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m.
You can hear the game on 730CKDM with Darnell Duff. A special 30-minute pregame show begins the broadcast at 6:30.
Before that, it's time to look back at the season it was. Starting with the fans in the stands. Dauphin averaged 705 fans per night during their 29-game home schedule. 1,754 fans witnessed Ukrainian Night on January 24.
On Saturday, 1,106 fans were in the stands.
"Yeah, it's definitely good to see the fans come out with an average that high. We hope to build on that next year," said Christian Laughland, Director of Business Operations. "We're third overall in the league when it comes to attendance in the regular season. We can't thank fans enough for all of their support."
The Kings finished the regular season with eight players recording 30-plus points. Ethan Stewart has points in 13 straight games. The team scored 199 goals. Their 740 penalty minutes were the second-fewest in the league.
The last time the Kings failed to win 30 games in the regular season was the 2018-19 campaign, when they won 29. In the last six regular seasons, the Kings have won 212 games. That's an average of 35.3 per season.
Consistency. That's what the Dauphin Kings bring to the ice year after year.
On Friday night, the journey begins. Last year ended in heartbreak. Game seven against the Northern Manitoba Blizzard. This year, the Kings have unfinished business. It won't be easy, but the team believes they have the group to make a run.
Tickets for game one will be on sale starting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
"They're going to be on sale at the South Ticket Office from 9:00 to 3:00," said Laughland. "Then they'll be available at the pool desk by the Kin Aquatic Centre from 3:00 to 9:00. So that's 12 hours for you to get tickets for Friday."
Dauphin won four of six meetings against the Wolverines in the regular season. In their most recent meeting, Dauphin came from behind. They were trailing 3-1 after 40 minutes before Josh Schmidt and Ash Mitchelmore scored to tie it.
In overtime, Ethan Stewart nailed home the game-winner. The Wolverines won 29 games and are fuelled by 20-year-old Sebastien Hicks. He finished third in league scoring with 33 goals and 77 points.
If you're in the stands on Friday, don't forget to get your season tickets for the 2026-27 season. An adult season ticket is $269. A senior season ticket is $249 while a student season ticket is $149.
Kids' season tickets are $89, while you can also get 30-game and 15-game flex packs.
These prices are among the lowest in the MJHL.
"Everyone who buys their early bird season tickets on Friday and next Tuesday is put into a draw for a $100 gift certificate," ended Laughland.
It's the best time of the year, and the Dauphin Kings are ready to roll.
