Bryant catches fire, leads league in goals

Only the Steinbach Pistons with nine wins in a row have put together a longer active winning streak than the Dauphin Kings.

Heading into a pair of games this weekend against the Neepawa Titans, Dauphin has won six straight games, including a contest against Neepawa back on Tuesday. Dauphin’s win on Tuesday was their 35th of the season and they’re now 11 points ahead of Waywayseecappo for first place in the West Division.

Dauphin won nine of their 10 games in February and has won their only game this month. Kaden Bryant caught fire last month as he scored seven times and added nine assists for 16 points in just 10 games. To begin March, the 20-year-old from Winnipeg added one assist on Tuesday.

“We’ve definitely been having a nice stretch here lately but I believe our best is yet to come,” said Bryant. “Everyone is on the same page and we’re seeing that with our results.”

Dauphin’s lone defeat last month was on February 12 against OCN. Since the team has 25 goals in their last six outings and they have given up just 12. Dauphin has also scored seven powerplay goals in their last three games.

Bryant has been paired with Nick Braun and Nakodan Greyeyes and the three were stars of the week in the most recent Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week. It’s been a tough line for other teams to stop and the trio will look to keep it going this weekend.

“It took us a little bit to get the chemistry flowing but we’ve found it now,” said Bryant. “Things are going pretty well and now we have to keep it going.”

Kaden’s 30 goals this season are the most in the league and his 61 points are the fourth-most. He has at least a point in eight straight games and two of those are multi-point efforts.
