Brook joined by Valentino & Wareham this week

Jakob Brook is now known as the most recent local hero.

He scored the game-winning goal on Sunday and had a great game overall as he earns the first star in this week’s Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week

1st Star: Jakob Brook

Brook’s seventh game as a King was no doubt his biggest. He scored Dauphin’s first goal of the game and then in overtime on a shot from the point, he tipped in a puck past the Stampeder netminder.

Brook now has two goals and three assists with Dauphin. While the team has been injury plagued for the past few contests, Jakob also played on the back end and performed very well. He did so for a few games before returning to his forward position on Sunday to produce three points for the hometown team.

2nd Star: Jamie Valentino

As Dauphin’s power play is starting to click, the newest member of the team is helping it do just that.

Valentino hammered home a beautiful shot on the power play on Sunday in the team’s come from behind victory. In just four games with Dauphin, Valentino has already scored three times and he has two assists.

Dauphin has scored 15 goals in their last three games and Valentino is chipping in greatly, which was expected when he was acquired in a trade from Portage last week

3rd Star – Owen Wareham

He’s a magician when it comes to overtime play. He had the game-winning marker in overtime against Winkler a few weeks back and on Sunday, Wareham had the primary assist on a goal scored by Jakob.

Game in and game out, Wareham comes to play and as the team’s captain, he is an outstanding leader on and off the ice.

Owen is also well on his way to a career year. He already has 16 points, just six fewer than last year. With plenty of action left, Wareham will continue to be one of the biggest pieces of this Kings roster.

Season-long standings:

Five points are up for grabs for the first star each week, three points go for the second star and a single point is up for grabs for the third star.
