Boonstra, Smith To Join Kings

DAUPHIN, MB - Forward Matthew Boonstra (2001) and Goalie Matthias Smith (2001) are the first to commit to the Dauphin Kings for the 2019-20 season.

Boonstra, who spent some time with the Kings in MJHL Playoffs early in March, played last season with the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League's Eastman Selects. In his time with Eastman this past year Boonstra put up a very strong 27 goals and 36 assists for 63 points. The Garson, Manitoba product then mixed in a goal and three assists in four playoff games for the Selects.

Matthias Smith spent last season in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (Junior B) with the Comox Valley Glacier Kings and was an AP for the BCHL's Powell River Kings. As a 17 year old Smith gained a lot of junior hockey experience. In 35 contests he had a 4.91 Goals Against Average and a .887 Save Percentage.
