Marco Bodnarski scored his first goal as a Dauphin King, Marko Belak sparkled in net and it all added up to their 26th win of the season on Friday night.
Opening up an important weekend on home ice, Bodnarski scored the first goal of the game and that was all Dauphin needed as they won 4-0 over the Winnipeg Freeze. Belak was fantastic in net as he made 28 saves to record the win.
Dauphin led the game 1-0 after 20 minutes before Jamie Valentino scored his ninth of the season off a beautiful shot that beat Keegan Gordon as Dauphin led 2-0 after 40 minutes.
Then in the third period, Jakob Brook scored his sixth goal as a King in his return to the lineup and Sam Boldt found the back of the net for the first time off a beautiful backdoor pass from Myles Yearwood in the late stages of the third period.
Dauphin’s penalty kill was once again perfect as it went 4-for-4 while their power play went 1-for-4 on the night. Dauphin put up 42 shots in the win.
With the victory, the team is now 26-16-2-1 and paired with a Waywayseecappo win, the two teams remain tied atop first place in the West Division. The team now welcomes the OCN Blizzard to town on Saturday.
