Blues Get Past Kings

WINNIPEG, MB - The Dauphin Kings opened the scoring Tuesday afternoon but that was all they could muster in a 5-1 loss to the Winnipeg Blues.

Wilson Northey, who was arguably Dauphin’s best player Tuesday, opened the scoring for the Kings a couple minutes into the contest.

After Northey’s goal however the Kings gave up five unanswered. The first came later in the opening period and the two teams would take their 1-1 deadlock into the second.

In the middle frame the Kings’ defence struggled and gave up two goals. The Blues would take a 3-1 lead to the final period.

The third saw Dauphin come out strong and gain a lot of scoring chances and an early man advantage. Unfortunately the Kings couldn’t finish on their opportunities and later in the period the Blues would pull further away to take it 5-1.

Shots were pretty even for the night. In the end the Blues were up 34-32. Kings goalie Brennan Kitchen suffered the loss between the pipes Tuesday.

Dauphin’s Power Play didn’t score on four opportunities while the Blues ended 0 for 2.

The loss puts the Kings at 8-24-2 on the season. They’ll look to rebound Wednesday afternoon when they face the Steinbach Pistons at the Bell MTS Iceplex at 3:00pm!
