Blues Double Kings

WINNIPEG, MB - The Dauphin Kings couldn't get anything going throughout the night in a 4-2 loss to the Winnipeg Blues Saturday.

Dauphin came out a bit flat and surrendered the game's first goal in the late stages of the opening period. They also gave up four power play opportunities to the Blues in the first 20.

In the middle frame the Kings played a bit better and were rewarded when Wayde Johannesson (3) tied the game up on the man advantage at 5:32 of the second. The Blues would respond about five minutes later and then would score again three minutes after that to go ahead 3-1. George King (3) would tally his third of the year late to get his club within one after 40 minutes.

The final frame saw the Kings unable to generate much in the scoring chance department and eventually the Blues would ice the contest with an empty netter in the final minute.

Both teams scored on the man advantage Saturday. Winnipeg tallied twice and the Kings did once.

Brennan Kitchen took the loss in net for Dauphin. He turned aside 27 of 30 shots while his team mustered 24 on the Winnipeg goal.

The Kings will have a couple days off to regroup before heading up to OCN on Tuesday to take on the Blizzard for the first time this season. Puck drop is slated for 7:00pm at the GLMC.
