Blizzard Take Back & Forth Affair

DAUPHIN, MB – Dauphin and OCN battled back & forth in an entertaining game Tuesday night at Credit Union Place and in the end it was the Blizzard coming out on top 5-4.

The opening period between the two teams had some good pace with not many whistles in the first 20 minutes. When everything was said and done the clubs went to their dressing rooms scoreless.

In the second the Kings struck first when Austin Friesen (2) tallied on the Power Play with assists going to Ian Briscoe and Daniel Chartrand. Four minutes later the Blizzard would tie it up then take the lead four more minutes after that. Dauphin get back to even ground when Trevor Selk notched his first as a King with Riese Gaber and Grady Hobbs picking up assists. OCN would go on to score two more in the second to take a 4-2 advantage into the final frame.

The third period started with the Kings clawing within one. Riese Gaber’s 11th of the campaign made it 4-3 OCN with Clark gaining the lone assist. However the Blizzard regained their two goal lead later in the frame. The late stages of the final period saw the Kings surge. Dauphin saw local product Daniel Chartrand () make it a one goal tilt. The Kings came close in the dying seconds but couldn’t slide one over the goal line to get it to overtime.

Brandon Holtby suffered the loss in goal for the Kings, but played well, stopping 41 of 46 shots while the Kings put 22 on the OCN net.

Special Teams were in favour of the Kings Tuesday night. Dauphin scored two more man advantage goals and didn’t allow one against on the Blizzard side. The Kings were 2 for 4, OCN was 0 for 3.

Dauphin gets a couple days off before their next contest which happens on Friday when the Portage Terriers visit Credit Union Place. The game sponsor is the Dauphin Co-op! Puck drop is 7:30pm!
