Blizzard Outlast Kings

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings put forth a good effort Friday night but couldn't pull off a victory over the OCN Blizzard in a 3-1 loss.

The Kings controlled most of the tilt, in the first period they got on the board when Bradley Estrada scored his second of the campaign with Riley Shamray and Jaymes Knee drawing the assists. The opening frame saw Dauphin out shoot the Blizzard 22-9.

The second period had things even out a little with OCN edging the Kings in shots 9-7 but neither team were able to get the puck to the back of the net.

In the third period the Kings got into some penalty trouble and the OCN Blizzard capitalized. Their first goal was on a delayed advantage, their second was right after a man advantage expired and the Blizzard's third marker came on a Power Play to seal the victory late in the third.

Matt Kustra started the game for the Kings and played excellent, turning aside 29 of 32 shots he faced. His team put 35 on the OCN net.

Power Plays had the Kings ending the night 1 for 6 while the Blizzard finished 1 for 6 as well.

The loss moves Dauphin to 5-19-2 on the season. The Kings will look to bounce back when they entertain the Winkler Flyers at Credit Union Place for Ag Appreciation Night! Puck drop is 7:30pm!
