Blizzard Hand Kings A 4-2 Loss

THE PAS, MB – The Dauphin Kings fell behind early and ended up suffering a 4-2 loss at the hands of the OCN Blizzard Tuesday night.

OCN opened the scoring just one minute and 53 seconds into the contest. The Blizzard will go on to score another before the Kings got on the board at the 15:49 mark of the first period when Keaton Leininger scored his 21st of the campaign.

In the second period Kings goal Brandon Holtby played excellent and kept the game close for Dauphin, despite being run over and attacked a number of times by Blizzard players. When the night was over the 20 year old Regina product turned aside 52 of 56 shots. His team put 32 on the OCN goal.

Dauphin’s second goal of the night came off the stick of Trevor Selk who continues to play well as of late. It was his fourth goal in eight games and fourth of the season overall. At that point it made the contest 3-2 with Dauphin pushing, but OCN scored with just over seven minutes to play to grab the insurance marker.

Both of the Kings’ goals came on the Power Play. The club ended the night 2 for 7 on the man advantage while OCN was 1 for 5.

The Kings will conclude their five game road swing Saturday when they visit the Virden Oil Capitals. Game time is 7:30pm!
