Blizzard Get Past Kings, Take 2-1 Series Lead

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings had chances late to tie the game but couldn't in a 4-2 loss to the Northern Manitoba Blizzard Tuesday night at Credit Union Place.

Norman would open the scoring in the first Tuesday night before Matthew Thomas (6) would respond for the Kings on the man advantage in the second period.

The third period saw the Blizzard outwork the Kings and go ahead 3-1. Thomas (7) would tally his second of the night to make it 3-2 and a late scramble gave Dauphin a chance to send the game to overtime but they couldn't score. The Blizzard would go up the ice and notch an empty netter in the final seconds to seal the game.

Cole Sheffield played well in goal for the Kings. He stopped 33 of 36 shots while his team had 29 on the Blizzard net.

Dauphin finished the night 1 for 3 on the Power Play while the Blizzard were 0 for 2. NorMan opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal on Dauphin's first man advantage.

Both teams will now get two days off before action resumes Friday in The Pas (7:00pm) for game four. The next game at Credit Union Place will be on Sunday when the Blizzard come to town for game five. Tickets for the tilt will be on sale at the Speedy Glass South Ticket Office on Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm and then on game day from 10:00am to game time!
