Back in Swan River looking to advance

The Dauphin Kings have another chance to advance to the second round of the MJHL playoffs on Sunday night.

Following an overtime defeat on Friday, Dauphin returns to the Swan River Centennial Arena for game six of the series. Dauphin has lost two straight coming into the game but it isn’t because a lack of shots.

The Kings peppered Kobe Grant in game four with 50 shots but came up short as the Stampeder netminder made 47 saves. Then in game five, Dauphin recorded 56 shots but once again, Grant was incredible. The Stampeders have also found the ability to score some timely goals in the past two games with their season on the line.

The Steinbach Pistons, Virden Oil Capitals and Winkler Flyers are all waiting in the second round. If Dauphin is to find a way to end the series, they will play the Flyers in a best-of-seven league semifinal. If the Stampeders pull off the huge comeback, they have a date with the Steinbach Pistons in the league semifinal.

Tonight’s Matchup:  It’s Dauphin’s third chance to advance to the next round.

Last Time Out: 5-4 OT L. Kobe Grant was once again the star of the show as he made 52 saves in the game. Tonight’s game is the shortest rest of the series so far.
