WAYWAYSEECAPPO, MB - Brendan Arnold scored three goals and Riese Gaber added another as the Dauphin Kings doubled up the Wayway Wolverines 4-2 Sunday evening.
For most of the game the Kings controlled the possession and momentum with Wayway getting a couple spurts along the way.
The Kings started off strong, with two goals in the first five minutes including a goal in the opening minute of action. Brendan Arnold had back to back tallies. His first was on an early Dauphin man advantage, a tip from a Riley Shamray point shot. Arnold's second came from a nice set up by Riese Gaber.
In the second period Dauphin would control the play and out shoot Wayway 14-6 but the Wolverines scored on a Power Play of their own to make it a one goal contest.
The third period saw Riese Gaber finally break through after numerous chances, potting one to put his team ahead 3-1. The Wolverines, however, wouldn't go away as they made it 3-2 late in the frame. Brendan Arnold would complete the hatrick with an empty netter and some insurance for the Kings with just over a minute to go.
Brennan Kitchen took the win between the pipes for the Kings, turning aside 21 of 23 shots. Both of the Wolverines goals came off tips in front. Dauphin fired 32 shots on the Waywayseecappo net.
Power Plays saw the Kings finish the night 1 for 4 while Wayway was 1 for 3.
The victory is Dauphin's second in three outings and improves their record to 2-6-0 on the year. The club gets Thanksgiving Monday off before resuming play Tuesday in Swan River with puck drop against the Stampeders at 7:30pm.
