Another battle of the top two in the West

The Dauphin Kings return to Credit Union Place for the first time in a week tonight and when they do, they’ll be going for a weekend sweep.

A solid performance from start to finish on Friday night saw the team win their 30th game of the season. Cordell Coleman led the way with three goals for his first career junior hat trick while Brayden Dube continued his great season with two more goals.

Entering Saturday night, Dauphin has won four of the five meetings with the Wolverines, and they are now on top of the West Division by three points with one game in hand. Dauphin is 15-5 on home ice this season while the Wolverines are 12-8. Waywayseecappo has allowed 15 goals in their last two games, and they have won twice in their last six games.

Both team’s special teams continue to set the tempo in the league. Dauphin’s powerplay is the second-best in the league, trailing only the Wolverines. Dauphin’s penalty kill is second in the league while the Wolverines have struggled on the penalty kill more often.
